What granite is
Granite is an igneous rock, formed from cooled magma, made mostly of quartz, feldspar, and mica. It is dense, hard, and available in colors from near-white through gold, green, blue, and deep black.

What to know
- Granite is porous and is sealed at installation. Resealing periodically keeps it stain-resistant.
- Honed (matte) finishes show fingerprints less than polished; polished finishes show more depth of color.
- If you are updating an older granite kitchen, ask us about stain removal and resealing before you decide to replace.

How often should granite be sealed?
It depends on the stone and how the kitchen is used. We seal at installation and can assess whether your counters need resealing during an on-site visit.
Is granite heat resistant?
Yes. Granite handles hot pans well, though we still recommend trivets to protect the sealer.
